Special Winter Rate
Winter fishing here is simple: pick the best window, fish the best water, and keep the day comfortable. Most winters, spring creeks are the most consistent option. We also get mild stretches where the Yellowstone can be in play. The Lower Madison is a strong alternative when you want stable conditions and a tailwater approach.
You’re not choosing a river months in advance. You’re booking the Special Winter Rate, and we’ll recommend the best option for your date based on forecast, clarity, wind, access, and the kind of day you want.
How it works

Deposits and weather flexibility
Winter is a moving target. We keep deposits and date changes more flexible than peak season because weather and river conditions are part of the deal. If conditions are unsafe or clearly not fishing well, we’ll collaborate on the best move: switch fisheries, shift the start time, or reschedule.
Deposit approach
- We keep winter deposits light and simple.
- If weather forces a change, we move your date without penalties when possible.
- If travel plans change, call/text early and we’ll work with you.
What we prioritize
- Safety first (ice, wind, road conditions, access)
- Fishing conditions (clarity, flows, stability)
- A realistic winter plan that fits your group
Winter rate FAQ
Do I choose the river?
The guide and the client collaborate, but we recommend going with the guide’s call. Winter is conditions-driven, and the right choice is usually the one that’s safest and fishing best that day.
What dates is the winter rate valid?
October 16, 2025 through April 2026. If conditions are unsafe or clearly not fishing well, we’ll work with you to shift dates or pivot to the best available option.
When is the Yellowstone usually an option in winter?
It’s best on mild winter days when mid-day warms up and conditions are stable. If it’s not a good river day, we pivot to spring creeks or the Lower Madison.
Why include the Lower Madison?
It’s a strong winter alternative when you want a tailwater option and steady conditions. It helps us pick the best water for your day.
What time do winter trips start?
Later than summer. We build the day around the best light and the warmest part of the day.
What’s not included?
Montana fishing licenses and guide gratuities are not included.
